The North Harbour Wisden Cup & Slazenger Cup teams have pulled off double victory after winning both the Divsion 1 & 2 competitions respecitvely.
North Harbour had three teams entered heading into this event, Wisden (Division 1), Slazenger 1 (Division 2) & Slazenger 2 (Division 2). After winning both divisions in 2019, North Harbour was confident in retaining the titles they had worked so hard to win. With no competition in 2020 due to COVID-19, and the withdrawal of Waikato & Canterbury from Division 1, it meant a smaller competition for the top New Zealand associations. With determination and confidence high, North Harbour Wisden went through the competition undefeated and didn’t drop one match out of the 16 that were played. A true relection of the the quality and calibre of the players in the North Harbour Division 1 team.
Our Slazenger 1 team were not to be outdone by the Wisden team, also winning their division comfortably, losing only one match in the tournament against Auckland 1 in the final. A very impressive ‘for and against’ match record of 45-1 over their five ties.
Slazenger 2 did themselves proud finishing in 5th place overall. The scores in the first two ties did not reflect the competitive nature and close margins of the matches.Three convincing wins after five ties saw them finish strong with a positive future ahead for this young and enthusiastic team.
