As you will have heard as we enter level 2 we are able to re-introduce some badminton.
Due to Sport New Zealand instructions we are unable to proceed with Club or group bookings at this stage dues to a maximum of 10 people per group.
Based on this information the BNH Board decided that there would be no club bookings or group bookings until after the Sport New Zealand review date on the 25th of May. We are hopeful that we will receive some positive news then and look to re-establish club and group bookings.
In the meantime we are able to open the facility to individual court card and casual players. Attached a document explaining the procedure for players to play under this criteria. As you are no doubt aware there are significant changes throughout our communities and sport is no exception. Cleanliness, social distancing, contact tracing will all play a huge part of our sport in the foreseeable future. It is essential that all members and players abide by the criteria so that everyone can enjoy getting back to play. Badminton North Harbour reserves the right to cancel or suspend any court card and to refuse access to our facility for players that fail to abide by the attached processes. We also reserve the right to discontinue use of the facility generally in the event that the Board, at its discretion, believes that safe use of the facility cannot be adequately maintained at all times.
Courts now will be booked from the hour for 55 minutes enabling you to clear the court promptly and vacate the premises while giving enough time for the next people who have booked the court to get underway at the start of the new hour.
As a result of the new process there will be a new pedestrian flow throughout the centre:
- Entrance only through the main sliding doors. Upon entering, people are required to hand sanitize. There are 2 dispensers in the foyer area.
- People will move to the right with the main doors to the courts not having access to the courts as this will be exit only from the court area and players can only make their way up the stairs or down the corridor past the toilets with access to the courts only being through the doors between courts 1 and 2. This will also be accessible from upstairs as the stairs by the kitchen will be the only way down from the mezzanine area. Players can go onto the courts here or exit the building through the fire exit
- You can only exit the court area through the main doors between court 5 and 6. When you exit you will move left and make your way down the corridor and out through the fire exit door at the end of the building.
The fire exit will be the sole exit point from the facility. This process will help so players do not have to pass each other especially through high traffic areas including doors and corridors.
The toilets will remain open however all showers will be closed off and not for use until further notice. The drinking fountain will also be out of use as will all umpire chairs.
Please ensure that before you go on the court you use the hand sanitiser units which you will find at the end of each court and in the entrance and exit areas of the buildings. We are suggesting everyone hand sanitise upon entering the facility, then again when going on and off the court and again when leaving the facility. Although this sounds a lot we are dedicated to ensure everybody is safe and in a healthy environment.
At this stage there are to be only players in the facility so for example, parents of players and spectators will not be allowed until further notice. This is consistent with other sports and schools at present.
Cleaning of all high use areas will be conducted throughout the day with a full clean undertake each night in all areas to ensure we are of the highest sanitised level, but we also need your help in ensuring we are all safe. Please take all your used shuttles with you and put in the bins if you need to so others don’t have to collect and dispose of them, keep your distance from others, don’t come to the facility if you feel unwell, leave promptly so others can play.
We are opening the hall from 8am through to last bookings at 9pm. This ensures that everyone should have left the hall by 10.15pm and the cleaners can begin their work. We will have the office open from 8am through to 6pm to assist with the court booking process though we strongly suggest you book online and forward us the appropriate forms before you get to the hall to play. This will help use process your information and authorise the court booking for you. The Pro shop will also be open but will have the restriction of 1 person at a time inside the shop.
We will have comprehensive signage throughout the hall explain all the requirements and entry and exit points. If you are unsure please ask one of the staff prior to doing anything as it will only take one mistake that could affect everyone.
Attached is the new process for booking and playing Badminton at both Badminton North Harbour and the Active Badminton Centre facilities. Please familiarise yourself with the requirements so that you can enjoy your badminton.
